Newton's middle school Science Olympiad teams recently competed at Wichita State University for the state Science Olympiad competition.
The team scored 10th overall.
"They were shining examples of healthy competition, determination, kindness, and teamwork! It was a rollercoaster of a day, with our students learning how to advocate for what is right and that success comes in many forms. Our team represented CMS, SF, and Newton Schools in the best way possible," coach Hannah Ramey said.

Sam Menninga and Charlie Regier - 5th in Helicopter
Ava Connor and Shay Huddleston - 6th in Crime Busters and 6th in Potions and Poisons
Jenna Kopper and Chelsea Sanchez - 7th in Anatomy and Physiology
Daphne Masem and Grant Flaherty - 7th in Mission Possible and 7th in Wind Power
